December 1, 2017

December means Weihnachtsmarkt.

it is crazy to mention but we are so close to the end of the year: only 30 days left! i remember i sometimes made fun of the future with my friends in elementary school, to believe there would be flying cars or some other awesome technology in 2018 and later. yeah i feel a little bit older to tell this story, but i am in my early 20s so. but when you really face 2018 and things are just stuck where it was, it is kinda weird. at least i can do facetime!

yesterday my friends and i went to christmas market (german: Weihnachtsmarkt). Weihnachtsmarkt has finally opened two days ago and we decided to go there directly after the class. good thing about celebrating christmas in germany is that the city is becoming a wonderland. like, a real pretty wonderland. you know i have been living in indonesia 18 years and there are no such thing as christmas market so when i had my very first christmas here, my heart is full!

there is one drink germans treasure during the christmas season: Glühwein. when you absolutely have no idea what to buy there, try it out! i have to mention that it is a spiced mulled wine, so it is a matter of alcohol. BUT, you can choose kinder punsch instead. it tastes literally as good as Glühwein, only without alcohol. i'd rather drink this because you can ask for whipping cream on top of it.

there are also tons of delicious dishes the visitor can cost. i would recommend crêpes or Bratwurst. i love to go there every weekend in december because of the wonderful decoration every shop put an effort on. at the end of november you can usually see snow everywhere here (at least last year so!) and you are already in the christmas mood, just like that. it is already 1st of december and you know, we gotta: 'in Weihnachtsstimmung kommen' pretty much like going into the christmas mood. i mean, christmas is around the corner! you have to find a way though.

and finally, i can put my teddy fur jacket on! i LOVE this jacket and would definitely wear this the whole winter. matching it with my mom jeans and a black boots, there i have my go-to outfit in winter.

how do you celebrate pre-christmas in your city?

until then.

October 30, 2017

hello guys! it is October 30th and i can't believe a year went by so fast. i don't know why it feels like the last past years are passing so quickly. do you feel the same? i guess it is because i am growing old and now i live in another country i get to take care all by myself and i have only a little time left, especially on weekdays. but i am really grateful for this and i like it being an adult.

yesterday hurricane Herwart, whose wind gusts reached 180 kph (112 mph), hit eastern German and caused flood at the river Elbe and many train connections to shut down in several German northern states. it was really dark and windy, though i still saw few people at the bus stop and walk on the streets. the powerful wind could blow over cars but the traffic on the highway was good enough that we got home safely.

despite it all we drove to my man's parents, who are about 63 miles away from our city to lunch together. it has been our weekend ritual to have some lunch or dinner together and play card games or board games. the food was amazing i had to talk about it all the way home. his mom literally can cook the best German food! it is definitely worth the ride.

you know, this kind of natural disaster makes you want to stay home all day. it is normal to feel like this. it is gray and rainy outside (not even try to mention the hurricane) and everybody wants to be safe. everybody wants comfort. but the truth is, there's always gonna be danger out there. you can't control these things. all you really can do is be careful and do what you gotta do.

Having somewhere to go is home. Having someone to love is family. Having both is a blessing.

..and it is true. it is the best feeling to have in the whole world. that's why it is important to maintain relationships and build a home you always want to because you have to live with it. after 10 months of moving into this house, we are done with the decoration and we are happy about it. it is those little things that make you cozy, like i always want to have some kitchen wall art and look at them! magnifique!

this is my favorite outfit of the season! i am into red since the weather outside is getting frightful. i don't want to blend in with the surroundings. autumn makes the city indeed look pretty, but once in a while i don't want to do that. and i can't help but mention that these trousers are the best find in Zara. it is so cute and comfy for colder days because i am tired of jeans! i might need it in winter anytime but until then nothing but trousers!

i match them with my red sweater and a wool beret. with a simple black leather ankle boots this outfit turns into a classic look, and perfect for a brunch or sunday strolling. what do you think?

until then.

Life Update.

hi guys. i am finally back from the long break of summer and welcoming the begin of fall, my favorite season of all time, with this post. seeing the old posts here makes me realize how i am growing through this, through my blog. i am kind of finding a new side of me while i evolve my style. and it's time to write something again in my little corner of internet.

you know, it is like those school breaks. you sometimes need it. and i really enjoyed this little break from my blog. i love my blog, and i never plan not to write anything here for weeks. but in the meantime i had to prepare for the new school year, for my work (while i still update my life on my instagram), and i want to spend more time with my man on my holiday.

i was just back from my 2 weeks holiday in my hometown, Indonesia. i met my own family, and flew to other island to visit another family member (cousins, uncles, aunts..), who i never get to know before. it turned out really great, and i wish i could spend more time with them. i think i am gonna write about my experience there, because since i lived in Germany for years now, it is interesting how my lifestyle has shaped me to be a different person than i was years ago.

the new school year has also begun calmly. it also means, more practice at the hospital. but again, i have more experience and i am happy about it.

we had our first home decor started and it has been so fun! the fall decoration was a success and since christmas is a wonderful time of the year, i am pretty excited for the next decoration! my man and i have been to beautiful places as well here in town such as museums, castles, and favorite snack bar to eat doner (that counts right?!).

we celebrated our anniversary! and my man got a new job that he loves. we also completed the last piece of furniture, which is exhaust hood in the kitchen! haha!

back to the outfit, i have also been exploring new online websites to shop. it also helped me to find pieces i love lately, AND actually go to stores in the city. man, i never been in the stores as often as the past few months since 2 years!  i found online websites back then and thought why should i go outside again to shop clothes, however i missed that thing. looking at the details and the fabrics, trying on clothes, and actually get the clothes right away! besides, my man prefers to shop with me in the stores and look at my outfits straightaway. it's also fun to go with him shopping because he lets me 'im Laden frei entfalten und mir hinterher gehen' (the germans know what i am talking about, haha!) and he always has funny sayings while shopping and i love it.

today's outfit is about soft colors. i am in love with my rose sweater lately (got it from Zara!) and matching it with my fleece denim jacket, which is perfect for early fall. black boots and stripes pants and i am ready to go!

until then.

Visit Germany: Bastei

Bastei, Deutschland
i used to grow up in one of big cities in Indonesia. it becomes normal to live in the middle of skyscrapers so i never have the thought of discovering any bridges that are beautiful, or anything magnificent. of course, i have always been a fan of nature. Indonesia’s great attractions are a fine blend of natural wonders, from highlands with active volcanoes, peaceful lakes, flowing waterfalls and forested mountains.

it was actually a rapid decision to go to the Bastei. we still have another two weeks off work and the weather does not cooperate the past days. it is kind of annoying too when you got great plans and cannot execute them such as picnicking. so we woke up one morning to made up our mind to go there.

i learn some interesting things about Bastei. actually, most of them are when it comes to Germany. like, how crazy it is that Bastei has been a tourist attraction for over 200 years?! it is a rock formation above the Elbe river and has been the famous one in Saxon Switzerland! this beautiful thing is formed by water erosion over one million years ago, which is mind-blowing!

Bastei - Location

they are located not far from Pirna southeast of the city of Dresden (near Rathen). as address you can enter 01847 Lohmen into navigation system.

How to get there by car

when you reach this place you just have to follow the direction sign. after you exit Lohmen about 2 or 3 km, you will see a big parking lot. it is 50 minutes away from Bastei if you walk through forest, but it is also possible to take the bus shuttle from there but we have not tried it yet. you can park your car there about 3h for 3€. surprisingly there is also second parking lot that is very close to Bastei but it is pretty occupied as it is not too large.

Opening hours and entry fees

the area is not fenced, so there are no opening or closing times. everybody can visit the famous Bastei rock formations at any time of the year. Bastei including Bastei Bridge are also free of charge, only a small fee for the entrance to Felsenburg Neurathen within the compound.

Around Bastei

there is a snack bar nearby the second parking lot. we bought post cards there, Pommes and Bratwurst, which are good. if you want to enjoy typical local and international food you can visit the Panorama Restaurant. it is open daily from 10:00 am. next to it you will find Berghotel Bastei.

from the Bastei Bridge you can enjoy view of the Elbe, a beautiful landscape, a little village and train track. it was a wonderful experience that no one will take from.

i am surprised of how great iphone camera is. i mean, look at this!

it was fantastic to discover such a magnificent place that is not so far away from my home. maybe there is some places you still gotta see around your neighborhood!

i wish you guys a lovely day!

Summer Fashion Essentials 2017

my summer time in Indonesia makes me realize that i don't need so many pieces of clothing to survive summer. it is kind of exhausting to organize closet for summer that only lasts for 3-4 months and the rest of the year will be cold anyway, at least here in Germany! the good thing is, summer clothing is all about lightweight, pretty and bright. i have rounded up the season's coolest pieces, so check it out!

Summer Fashion Essentials 2017

first: off shoulder single breasted blouse

i am always thankful every time i find a blouse in my closet. this one especially is perfect for a little date in summer. blouse always works for me when i think i have nothing to wear. (women out there, you know what i am talking about!)

second: wrap dress

my go-to outfit for when i don't feel like putting in maximum effort is this! i love to buy a floral one that really bright because.. summer.

third: princetown leather slipper

you just miss something in 2017 if you do not know these! these are one of those classic pieces you have to own. they are also casual for a girl's day out.

fourth: silky square scarf

i am a fan of scarf and i wear this in every. single. season. it adds a little elegant touch to any wardrobe. when in doubt, just wear scarf!

fifth: oval sunglasses

you know that these are a must-have this year, so no excuses there. treat yourself to a couple of fancies because these ain't pricey!

sixth: silky off-the-shoulder top

i think you guys already know that off-the-shoulder is for every summer. a silky one is my favorite for warmer days because it is loose and comfortable to wear on sticky days.

seventh: straw sun hats

the glam way to avoid UV rays: straw sun hat it is! relaxing at the pool or going for a walk in the city with this as a fashion statement can never go wrong, am i right?!

eighth: denim skirt

it is making a comeback this summer! so pretty and versatile, you can pair it with a t-shirt or camisole.

ninth: espadrilles flamingo

espadrilles just feel like summer. staying in the city, going to the zoo, heading to the country, they are perfect for any occasions. they basically go with everything, so these are another must-have you cannot resist!

tenth: bamboo straw bag

summer means beach and beach means straw bag! its ‘natural’ fiber colors which range from beige to honey will truly go with everything. definitely on trend this year!

eleventh: gingham shorts

it is a trend that everyone already knows! its pretty hard not to look like a picnic table with these, but these shorts are my favorite one when it comes to gingham!

twelfth: white slogan tee

light-colored clothing reflects light and thus resists the heat from the summer sun. you know how versatile it is, so i just have to put it on the list!

thirteenth: maxi dress

Day or night, maxi dress can look effortlessly chic and make a serious style impact. it is so comfortable on a picnic day and perfect for a brunch date!

fourteenth: sandals

summer means beach and beach means sandals, am i right?! this belongs to the essential beach packing list!

fifteenth: wide leg pants

this is my favorite office basics that never gets old. it is a must-have in summer because of its lightweight. the floral print also gives the perfect summer touch. skinny jeans are for colder days, it's time for some wide leg pants!

tell me which one is your favorite summer essentials this year! i cannot decide since i need all of these pretty things. check out my Polyvore to find out where to buy these essentials right now. i wish you all a good week ahead!

Visit Germany: Moritzburg Castle

hello! i hope you have a wonderful summer so far. how time flies, i haven't wrote any new post since a month! that is because my summer break has started since and i unintentionally take a break from blogging. in the meantime i had a summer vacation in Indonesia for 2 weeks, which was amazing. i have so many things to blog but before summer ends i am gonna start my summer post with a beautiful place here in Germany!

we still have a list of places we would love to visit and since we live in the capital city of the Free State of Saxony, it is kind of advantageous because Germany has tons of pretty corners. i know we live here for awhile and we still have many time to tick off on the list but hey, why not now? we decided to go to Moritzburg, the beautiful hunting castle of August the Strong that surrounded by a pretty big lake. it really feels like being part of a fairy tale when i was there, except the fact that Cinderella movie (orig.: Three Wishes for Cinderella) from 1973 was shot there.

Moritzburg - Location

it is located in the German state of Saxony, about 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) northwest of the Saxon capital, Dresden.

Opening hours and entry fees

the area can only be reached by foot hundred meters from the parking lot. everybody can visit Moritzburg castle at any time of the year except 4 days: Feb 27 to Mar 17 and Nov 6 to Nov 17. the entrance fee costs for an adult 8€.

Interior of Moritzburg

the interior of the castle is decorated with examples of opulent baroque decor from the time of Augustus the Strong, which is magnificent. many rooms' furnishings are dedicated to courtly hunting. the walls are covered in 17th century gold-gilded leather.

there are also lots of beautiful paintings on the wall, mostly portraits of important people by the time. there are also smaller wax-portraits displayed and a little fabled feather room, which are really fascinating. it is impressive how amazing all the things there look like that still last over hundred years. of course some of them are old and smell like one, but they are also still in a great shape.

the collection of red deer antlers is one of the most important of its kind. the castle's largest collection of antlers is shown in the Speisesaal, which is mind-blowing! i wish i had that kind of dining room (without red deer antlers, please)!

Around Moritzburg Castle

i find it cute that they put a golden shoe on one of the stairs of Moritzburg Castle as a reminder where the Cinderella loses her shoe on the movie. as a visitor, i never thought there were one so it is more interesting to see. but especially the beautiful lake that you can also enjoy. and many many ducks!

excuse me for a second, just found my shoe! (haha!)

the weather was really nice there and we had such a great time! it is one of those moments that i wish i could stop time and enjoy beautiful things in life with my favorite person like this. and what an amazing place Moritzburg is!

have a lovely Monday!

Summer Pieces: Off-The-Shoulder

happy monday y'all! i hope you had a lovely weekend. we explore another side of the huge famous park we used to go to in our town: a train ride!

i have to say, this park is made for summer! not only you can row boats on the lakes (and yes, there is a little lake, too!) but you can also have a train ride operated by children and passengers can board at any of the five stations. we had a round trip through the park and it took us about half an hour. it cost 6€, but you can also take one station and cost cheaper than that. for a round trip, it lasted for a shorter time, but it is because the train (steam locomotive) went pretty fast! it is perfect to enjoy spring breeze before summer arrives this year.

we took a sunday afternoon stroll through the park after that while we ate our delicious ice creams. my man and his talent always amaze me with the photographs he made with his phone. everytime we pass a beautiful buildings or fountain, he made a beautiful picture out of it. it looks even better when it comes to landscape. i sometimes take the same exact thing, only with my dslr camera, but i often like it better from phone camera. now my dslr camera is officially only for other things but landscape.

but let's get back to the fashion, because this time i want to share one of my favorite spring outfit to you! one thing i have always loved about summer is the casual style that comes along with it. this season is all about adding detail, bright colors and texture to casual and comfortable clothing. with clothes that are just as fun and lovely, it’s no surprise that summer style has always been my favorite. and summer style means off-the-shoulder, because you just can go wrong with it! i could wear off-the-shoulder all summer long, from dress, top or blouse. i matched my off-the-shoulder blouse with a boyfriend and these cute black mule sandals. what do you think?

what is your favorite piece of clothes in summer? i wish you all a wonderful start into the week!

Picnic Date

hello, guys! i hope you had a wonderful weekend. mine was amazing, as you see, my man and i just had our very first wonderful picnic!

first of all, i need to tell you that i have always wanting to have a picnic. i actually bought the picnic utensils and stuff already since two or three years ago, but we never got the time for it because we still lived in another city and my man had to work abroad back then. this year, we want to catch up on everything so first things first, picnic!

there is nothing better than a park we always go to every weekend as our perfect picnic spot. if you follow me since day 1, i already told you few times that this park is freaking huge! the forecast for the weekend said 30° C so it was a great idea! it sounds like a lot, but we found a perfect place under a big tree and it was really comfortable. we didn't bring so many foods because we only want a brunch picnic so it should be a little lighter because we want to play badminton, too! and, we indeed were full!

for this picnic we had:
  1. baguette
  2. bacon and eggs
  3. picnic skewers (raspberry + mango + cucumber, sausage + eggs + cucumber)
  4. lemonade (ours was raspberry)
  5. homemade Meis-Frikadelle
  6. pretty drinking jars
  7. plates, cups, utensils, napkins
  8. picnic blanket and cooler bag
  9. instax

since this picnic was a success, i want to share some things you should keep in mind before having a picnic:

first. avoid messy things like chicken wings, or pizza. i know, they are delicious and you might think it is a perfect time to bring these foods you love, but chances are, it will either leave stains on your shirt or residue everywhere and it could end up pretty messy. picnic should be simple and you will want to spend more time to talk to the person you are with while remaining in touch with nature than cleaning up things, don't you?

second. bring the essentials. you are done with the foods, it is great. but do not forget the rest, guys! plates, drinking jars, utensils, napkins, blanket, or even a small garbage bag should be in the list! you might think it's easy to find trash can at a park. trust me, it's not! it could be annoying to have those things around in the end, and i don't think you want to take extra time for it.

third. check the weather! please, please, do this. make sure you check the weather forecast before making any final plans. rain could ruin your picnic (or maybe don't?!) but it's better to be prepared, right?

last but not least. bring the comfortable stuff. it can be a big blanket to sit on or when it gets colder, or pillows to lay on. make sure it is big enough so you are not the only one who use it (except you have a picnic by yourself). we actually did not bring these things, because we did not plan to stay for four hours in a row! we were in fact a lil tired at particular time, but we already decided before to take some rest after picnic so it was not a big deal for us!

i hope this post can help you guys preparing a picnic date as spring is in full bloom! i think picnic is a part of spring that everyone should try, it is just romantic! we really enjoyed it and we could stay longer that day but it sure was not our last picnic this year!

have a lovely week!

A Sunday in Spring

It has been almost a month since the last time i posted something here. I miss blogging already! It has been a week since the exams began and i needed to prepare for it everyday. I have so many things to write because May is a special month for me. It's like Christmas in Spring! But since the exam ends next week, i am gonna post something regularly again.

Sunday is a day of rest for both of us, a day where we can spend time together. I really look forward to every Sunday because it really has been busy weeks for me. Also, i have to learn so much the past days for my examination (and still for next week) and i can at least take a day off (or two!).

We take a stroll in a big garden, it was a wonderful day. We could hear jazz music from afar and there was indeed a jazz concert, which was actually pretty nice. It was such a warm day! We ate ice cream and talked a lot about our future dreams. I love this kind of day, just two of us having fun the whole day.

look at this! isn't it magnificent? the first time i saw it i was like..'look at that bird! no, duck! or wait..'
it looks like a bird, but at this park there are more ducks than birds but the color reminds me of.. a chicken?!

two of my favorite things: this man and ice cream!

found these shoes last week and i fell in love since! what a pretty color! matched with my denim jeans and my favorite yellow shirts, it becomes my new favorite casual Sunday outfit now!

What is your favorite thing to do on weekend? Tell me your story! Have a wonderful day!
